★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the most iconic Buddhist temple in Central Java. Smaller than the Borobudur. There's annual event has been started in here. It's Vesak festival. The event celebrates Buddha on his anniversary in life and death. This temple is starting point when the event happened. This spot took 1 hour driving away from Jogjakarta and 9 KM away from Borobudur

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is just close to Borobudur Temple. We can easily find this beautiful temple cause its near from the road. I live this place because it's not crowded like Borobudur. You better go here in the evening.
The entrance ticket is only IDR 3,500 for Domestic and I guess for foreigner too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing history at this place. Very peaceful and well maintained. The resoration is beautiful and keeps to the authenticity of the site. Located not too far from the temple of Borobudur it is a must stop attraction for locals and bule alike. Make sure to stop by the monestary right across the street for even more culture of this area

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Mendut Temple and Pawon Temple actually pre-date Borobudur, all three should be masterplanned and publicised together to form a larger cultural-ecological district. In fact after experimenting with Pawon Temple, Mendut Temple was almost like a prototype of Borobudur, and should be introduced as starting point of visit for all visitors to experience the journey towards the making of Borobudur. The entrance street could become a linear museum to provide better information, rather than the current street stalls, which could be relocated to form a museum store at the exit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went twice, first was during the restoration and return again just after the new year. Great place and must when you visit borobudur. Beautiful relic and I just wish visitors pay little respect to the temple by appreciating the site rather taking their own picture right on the entrqbfe of the temple itself

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I visited there long ago before pandemic started. It's one of a gorgeous Buddhist temple in Central Java. With beautiful details in every part of it. Clean area. Visited there twice. Ticket is quite cheap. But small parking area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A small but beautiful Buddhist temple with an exotic architecture in a well-attended grass lawn at Jl. Mayor Kusen, Mendut, Mungkid District, Magelang Regency, Central Java Province. The temple was under partial restoration and access to the interior of the temple was denied as I and my wife stopped here. The ticket box is located at the far end of an alley with food and souvenir shops, and is open until 06:00 p.m. Entry tickets are available at IDR 10,000.- for local adults. Visitors can also a view from outside the area and take photos at the fence, or enjoy the cool atmosphere at the spacious green parking lot. There is a medium-sized musholla (moslem prayer place) near the ticket box. A Buddhist monastery with a beautiful building, a green gardens with small stupas and a high monument is located next to the Temple area, but it was closed as I and my wife stopped here recently.
