I visited last 2015, and I enjoyed walking inside this museum. I was able to reflect how Batik fabric permeates in Indonesian culture, and was able to make a mark in the world. I was also lucky to have experienced batik making at the back of the museum, and be guided by friendly local artists who are also doing their batik cloths. It made me realize why an original batik is expensive, because it really need constant practice, a steady hand, and a creative mind to be able to make one. Superb experience, thanks Textile Museum!

Hidden place. Not everyone knows we have this kind of Museum. Located in nearby Tanah Abang area. We can learn how to make Batik in backyard area. But please do reservation first, Is it not paid? The Man who always stand by in washing area is so friendly. I forgot the name. But he explains much knowledge of Batik and how process of coloring.

Great place, my daughter was so.happy there, she can make batik by her own hand and see the process after that. She also saw some traditional fabrics/batik from Indonesia. Need a lot of improvements on the display of the fabrics

You have to visit this place when you visit Jakarta. A huge variety of Batik collections and their historical. The place is quite old but maintained pretty well, even it can get a better maintenance. Entrance free is only IDR 5000 which is very low and much worth it. They have classes to learn making Batik, all you have to do is just to come to their workshop at the back side of the museum. The fee is about IDR 50k.

Museum Textile. This is a museum of textiles but not a museum of all kinds of textile, this museum is dominated by batik from ages. This museum is located in Jl. Ks. Tubun No.2-4, Palmerah area, West Jakarta. Activities in this museum are 3 big categories, as a museum of batik with beautiful batik collections inclusive of the types of pattern batik from many places in Indonesia, the batik stamp devices, all things related to batik. A second category is a place for batik workshop where anyone can come to learn batik and practicing how to make batik from zero to mastering how to make batik clothes. Start from designing, transferring a design into a chemical treated cloth as the base of batik then start writing the batik using a liquid wax following the pattern, then continue with coloring the batik, sox it in the fixing agent for color. Then flush it and dry it naturally. Then the last category is a function room to hold cultural events, exhibitions, education related to batik and textile. This is a nice place to learn and know Batik. Forget not there're a cafe, canteen and souvenir shops sell batik and other craft made from batik.

Best place for learning how to making Batik. This museum has offer to learn how for making Batik by our self. We can make with simple pattern and created by own. Not so expensive also for making Batik. The museum was nice building (this is was old building) with alot of trees at the back yard. In front of pendopo, we can sit and relax under the big trees. We can see alot of collections, not only Batik but another Indonesia fine arts for textile such as tenun, songket and more. If want to buy souvenirs, there is also souvenir shop here. If want to visit this museum and making Batik, don't forget to bring the jakard (Jakarta card) because the transaction here cashless.

Good place to spend time learning to make simple batik. You can get an advance course here too. They also display beautiful batik pieces from all over Indonesia. Once a Frenchmen villa back in early 1900s and you can still feel the cool air and serenity which is a luxury considering it is placed near the busiest market in Jakarta.

Love the historical building in the colonial era which turned into a museum. Located near Tanah Abang Market. Outside of the museum collection, this place is a kind of oasis in the middle of Jakarta crowds and traffic. lots of pleasant shady spots under the trees to chill or read some books.Β I hope more visitors to come.
