β β β β β Food is pretty good, but the price is definitely on the higher side in Indonesia. We (3 adult males) ate close to 900k Rupiah. I'd say that this is a good place to try a bunch of different kinds of food. Individually, I had better versions of dishes elsewhere, but as a whole package goes, it's good.

β β β β β Flavorful Indonesian cuisine experience. Authentic taste, fresh ingredients, well-cooked, well-served. Unique ambience.
This is not my first time here yet I've never had a so-so experience, always satisfying. Too bad because of pandemic the menu options are fewer than before, but still plenty good options to choose from.
I would suggest adding more cold and light drink options, since not all the time after having a wholesome food people want to go for wedang or "heavy drinks" such as cincau and es campur.

β β β β β Impeccable dining experience at Lara Djonggrang. Everything was settled perfectly, from the service, the setting, the interior, the food taste & quality also the location. We were there for a corporate luncheon and turned out to be one of the best hosting we made on 2019. Recommended and very fast response if your made reservation through their contact center. A 5-star restaurant indeed!

β β β β β Part museum, part architectural history, part bar, part restaurant, and named after a famous and beautiful mythological princess, Lara Djonggrang, this is a full Indonesian cultural experience.
I had low expectations for the food, especially since I'd been to a sister restaurant, Shanghai Blue, and been very impressed by the decor and distinctly underwhelmed by the food. However, Lara Djonggrang is the full package.
The menu is thoughtful, showcasing unusual dishes from different regions of Indonesia. The "satay boat" is a bit of a gimmick, except that the satay atop it is some of the best I've ever had. Unusual ingredients abound, there are new dishes, showing innovation is alive and well among the chefs, and most dishes are really excellent.
Portion sizes are a little confusing; a rice dish had a laughably small cone of rice, while shaved ice desserts were so big they could have been shared by easily by four people. Service is very gracious, but a little slow.
A really nice experience overall.

β β β β β This restaurant has an old decoration style. Maybe that's the reason why this restaurant has a creepy ambience. The food is indonesian dishes. They have good taste. But the price is a little bit expensive. Worth a try for a spice up experience.

β β β β β It's a fancy restaurant with Javanese Concept, lil bit 'dark' sense but it's classy and I like it. We ordered satay, ice, chicken, etc...etc... Cool icon of javanese around Gondangdia.
The food was sooooo delicious, pricey but worth it!
I'll go back here to have dinner again!

β β β β β βIt was a mini museum we have just visitedβ - this was how we felt after the authentic Indonesian lunch at the Tugu Lara Djonggrang. This place is decorated and furnished with antique pieces. Thereβs an magnificent ancient tree that has many roots enveloping itβs main trunk, welcoming you at the entrance of the restaurant compound. I really hope this tree can live there as long as it can.
The food was fairly alright. The spicy tuna fish was tasty. Papaya leaves with petai (bitter beans) was good, the only qualms is that petai was just a few pieces. Our food order was a appetiser, two type of stir fried vegetables, a tuna dish, two steam rice, a portion of local cracker, and es campur (shaved ice fruits cocktail) for dessert. Plus 2 bottled sparkling water. Total bill was IDR583,275 which was fairly alright.
Thereβs also a cosy bar like place connected at the back of the restaurant.
Service was rather slow, just one person was seen taking orders and serving all of the customers.

β β β β β Best service from the staff! I love their options of Indonesian food, some is rare to find in common local restaurant. Definetely their interior design is amazing. It's an antique Indonesia decor. Tableware and plating is preeeeety. Parking area is available for 8-9 cars, valet service is available too. They served wine, beer and liqueur in their bar.
If you're vegetarian, you can try their Sate Tempeh (serve with authentic Kecap Manis), Sayur Genjer, Gado-Gado, and Tahu pong. Avg price is IDR 200-250k/person.
