Menteri Pekerjaan Umum Djoko Kirmanto usai acara peresmian mengungkapkan jembatan layang tersebut ditujukan untuk mengatasi kemacetan di persimpangan sebidang Bundaran Kalibanteng.
“Dengan fly over tersebut, diharapkan pergerakan kendaraan di bundaran dapat terurai sekitar 50% dan mengurangi antrean trafik pada ruas Jalan Siliwangi, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, dan Jalan Yos Sudarso," katanya dalam keterangan tertulis.
Selain itu, dia mengharapakan keberadaan fly over Kalibanteng juga dapat mendorong pertumbuhan perekonomian di Jawa Tengah, khususnya Semarang.
Kota Semarang memiliki pintu masuk utama yang berada di persimpangan Bundaran Kalibanteng dengan enam cabang jalan yakni Jalan Yos Sudarso (Jalan Lingkar Utama Semarang), Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan Pamularsih, Jalan Abdurahman Saleh, Jalan Siliwangi, dan Jalan Bandara Ahmad Yani.
Posisi Bundaran Kalibanteng merupakan kawasan strategis bagi perkembangan Kota Semarang. Namun, hingga kini pola pergerakan kendaraan di bundaran tersebut belum terbagi secara jelas. Hal tersebut.berdampak pada terjadinya kemacetan di sekitar kawasan bundaran tersebut.
Pembangunm fly over Kalibanteng senilai Rp95,71 miliar dikerjakan sejak Oktober 2011 dengan waktu pelaksanaan selama 720 hari kalender dan 365 hari kalender masa pemeliharaan.
720 m Fly over Kalibanteng in Central Java is functional, after it was officially inaugurated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono today, Friday (03/14/2014).
Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto after the inauguration revealed the flyover was intended to overcome congestion at the intersection of a Kalibanteng Roundabout.
"With the fly over, it is expected that the movement of vehicles in the roundabout can decompose by about 50% and reduce the queue of traffic on the Jalan Siliwangi, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, and Jalan Yos Sudarso segments," he said in a written statement.
In addition, he expects the existence of Kalibanteng fly over can also encourage economic growth in Central Java, especially Semarang.
Semarang City has a main entrance at the intersection of the Kalibanteng Roundabout with six branches, namely Yos Sudarso Road (Semarang Main Ring Road), Jenderal Sudirman Road, Pamularsih Road, Abdurahman Saleh Road, Siliwangi Road, and Ahmad Yani Airport Road.
The position of the Kalibanteng Roundabout is a strategic area for the development of Semarang City. However, until now the pattern of vehicle movements at the roundabout has not been clearly divided. This is caused by the traffic jam around the roundabout area.
The construction of the Kalibanteng fly over worth Rp. 95.71 billion has been done since October 2011 with the implementation of 720 calendar days and 365 calendar days during maintenance.
