★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Is there any better soto padang than this? Cheaper maybe yes, but tastier?? I dun thing so. But anyway, i was having their sate Padang (satay/skewer), it also taste good, i ordered ox tounge, my favourite compare to regular meat. The gravy was sooo yummy.
And you guys should try their Nasi Goreng Rendang (Rendang fried rice). Thumbs up!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I give all the 5 stars for the soto. Tasty, flavorful soup combined with crunchy diced jerky beef really make a wonderful soto. The fried rice is not so much, rather bland. So stick to soto. Having said that, the combined smoking and non smoking room really make a bad dining experince here for non smokers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Selling classic traditional dishes in the heart of South Jakarta surrounded by modern restaurants and existing for 78 years++ clearly are not easy tasks. Soto Padang St. Mangkuto has proved that it's adequate to compete using their menu as their main "weapon".
I tried the classic soto Padang, and I was "deceived" by the first look, by its small-sized bowl, but THE INSIDE was a lot! The generous amount of thick-but-still-crunchy beef jerky is worth the price. I think my portion was supposed to be shared with another person if there's any. My only mistake when eating it was not ordering the second plate of rice.
Having a Minang descent living in Jakarta sometimes makes me need to know who I am--my identity, and tasting of my hometown's traditional food is one of the best way. Therefore, I think I need to have a second, third, and more visits to taste the other traditional dishes they have.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice padang rest. specializing in Soto Padang n Satay Padang. Lots of beef on the soto. Delicious. Not crowded, implement covid19 procedure, ample parking. There is nice martabak outlet just outside.
