Small temple complex, but well-managed and well-maintained like a nice garden. Local residences provide parking lots for cars and motorcycles, along with small number of cafe and shops.

Sambisari Temple is a Hindu temple (Siwa) located in Purwomartani, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta, about 12 km east of the city of Yogyakarta in the direction of the city of Solo or about 4 km before the Prambanan Temple complex. This temple was built in the 9th century during the reign of king Rakai Garung in the days of the Ancient Mataram Kingdom. Affordable price for entrance (especially for foreigner) ??

What makes this ancient architecture beautiful is where it located. Its an underground level temple. Some says it has been buried when Merapi had massive eruption thousand years ago. Nowadays, this Hindi temple us becoming popular tourist destination among the others.

A very green and natural place. This place is very well maintained. The contribution is about IDR 5K/person. The place is very quiet and you can enjoy exploring all around the temple. There's some beautiful photo spot too. The temple is not too big if we compared it with Borobudur or Prambanan, another well-known temple but this place is worth a try.

Small but tidy temple, the entrance fee is cheap compared to other candi sites in yogyakarta; IDR 5,000 for domestic tourists & IDR 10,000 for international tourists. Getting here with car is a bit tricky (especially when high season) as the road leading there is narrow and the site is a lil bit far-off the city center. There are couple of nice places to eat nearby. Kopi ponti for quick bites & coffee—soto bathok for main course.

As compared to others temples surrounding Yogyakarta this one is less busy. Perhaps due to the scale of this temple, there's only one temple in the centre and a few small ones around it. However, dont let that fool you for this temple is comparatively as beautiful as others. Only because it is not that well-known yet. Oh, another thing the entrance fee is only one fifth of other temple fees which is 5000 rupiah.

good place for a short holiday. this temple is located 6.5 meter below the surface, because it had been covered by the vulcanic dust. now they have renovated the temple and the area. the entry ticket is only 5k per person. pretty cheap, then you can explore and learn this beautiful historical site.
