★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had chance to check the facilities. Wow ... this is a pleasant place to stay, I think. So homy, like staying in a family house. Walking distance to many important objects around the downtown Jogyakarta within the Sultan Palace Region, also very close to the famous Malioboro Boulevard with its Beringharjo Central Traditional Market where you can find many kinds of batik products, handy crafts, traditional foods, etc. If you could spend less for place to stay, why should we spend more? Simply choose Andari Pendopo Homestay, you will find satisfaction and feels to come back in the near futures. Congratulation nDari and Doddy. You are lucky to have that facility. Cheers....

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ‘Overpriced and Photos Misrepresent Property’
➖ Our biggest issue with the property is the photos DO NOT match the room you will be given (see photos in our review). The property owners state that the room we were provided is the “Superior Double Room”. In addition, this guesthouse is way overpriced for Indonesia, and especially Yogyakarta, given the quality of the rooms and SHARED bathrooms. While it is called a “Homestay” it’s really just a poorly maintained ~8-10 room guesthouse.
There is one (1) shared western bathroom that is always wet, because it’s the only bathroom with a shower and hot water (note the door doesn’t close, though). There is also one (1) squat toilet and one (1) traditional bucket shower. At 2AM the AC randomly went out in all of the guest rooms despite the power still being on. Thankfully, there were other guests that spoke Indonesian and after 20 minutes of trying to awake someone the issue was quickly fixed. Lastly, we were told breakfast is not served until 7AM. However, when we left at 6AM to catch our train there were other guests being served breakfast, which really added to our frustrations with this property.
We stayed at Penak Malioboro Hostel and paid less for a far “superior” double room with private bath and a great breakfast. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LOOKING ELSEWHERE!
➕ The location is down a short alleyway, so the property is fairly quiet. In addition, if you are interested in visiting the Kraton it’s only a few blocks away. The staff speak english and can help with catching public transportation. They also let you refill your water bottles for free.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic location with really great hospitality and a beautiful family that is happy to engage with their customers and share a little local flavor. The air freshener in the room was a bit strong in my opinion, but others might like it. Overall a fantastic experience.
