★ ★ ★ ★ ★ mpek2nya mahal. kapal selamnya kecil. rasa cukonya lebih ke manis. beli es kacang merah duren, dikasih durennya mentah masih keras dan biji durennya warna hitam terkelupas kulitnya entah busuk atau kenapa. yang jelas rasa durennya hambar.
mpek2 is expensive. the submarine is small. cukonya more sweet taste. I bought durian red bean ice, given the raw durian, it was still hard and the black durian seeds were peeling off, whether it was rotten or why. it is clear that the durian taste is bland.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mpek-mpek 88 yang kapal selamnya isi telur mantap. Di kasih cuko (kuah pempek) lebih sedap. Ada juga pempek kuah, kuanya dari kuah tek wan seperti sup ikan. Yang suka pedas tinggal ditambahkan sambal saja.
Mpek-mpek 88 whose submarine is filled with eggs is great. The cuko (pempek sauce) is more delicious. There is also pempek gravy, the kuah is from tek wan sauce, like fish soup. Those who like spicy just add chili sauce.

Pempek is originally a typical food of the city of Palembang in South Sumatra. But now it is sold everywhere in Indonesia.
Pempek is a handmade fish cake, various shapes, half-round with eggs inside called "Kapal Selam " the long and round ones are called "Lenjer" the small round ones are called "Adaan" whose curly surface is called "Keriting" and small pieces of fish balls served with a savor sauce called "Tekwan" and so on.
The way of serving is fried and then cut into small pieces poured with cuko sauce (tamarind and garlic), powdered shrimp, and sliced cucumber.
Pempek Sekandung 88 is one of the favorite restaurants that sell pempek. Located on Jl. Mangga No.29, Lagoa, Koja, North Jakarta. The place is comfortable, the kitchen is clean and open for anyone to see.
I like this restaurant because the ingredients use premium mackerel fish mixed with spices, sago flour, and others so that it always tastes good.
It is a family business that started in 1988 and has been around for more than 30 years. Initially, this business was run in front of the house with a small table. To get more customers, the business moved to the side of the road with food carts. Then the desire to succeed in this business makes the owner never give up and work for many years against all difficulties and obstacles. Now they have their own restaurant with 2 floors in the corner of the street, with more than 1,000 loyal customers.
When I visited this place last week I saw a lot of people from bike communities drop by there and eat that pempek.
The owner opens one successful branch on Jalan Kramat Jaya, Semper Area, North Jakarta. This branch also contributes a lot to their business.
