Guna mengakomodasi tujuan tersebut, beberapa orang karyawan ditugaskan untuk mengamati dan meneliti perilaku belanja masyarakat. Kesimpulan yang didapat adalah bahwa masyarakat cenderung memilih belanja di gerai modern berdasarkan alasan kelengkapan pilihan produk yang berkualitas, harga yang pasti dan bersaing, serta suasana yang nyaman.
