★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was ordered "Nasi Bakar Dendeng". Its not like what expected. The rice and the condiment was good, but the meat are small and hard, can not even cut. Little bit dissappointed with the meat. And bit pricey with that quality of meat.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gula Merah has now become one of my favorite Indonesian restaurant to go. I ordered quite a lot of snacks and dishes such as;
- Tempe Mendoan ((come with additional sambal kecap on the side)
- Singkong goreng (come with additional sambal on the side)
- Tahu kipas
- Terong goreng ((come with additional sambal kacang on the side)
- Nasi bakar (has a very similar taste to nasi ulam but wrapped in leaves)
- Nasi ulam
- Lontong sayur
- Es cendol durian
All the fried foods are good and crispy, but not oily - which makes it perfect. Lonton sayur came with a really nice soft tahu that stands out the most, and i love the flavor. The dessert - es cendol durian is the only food that I dont dig-in as much. The flavor was kinda plain to me. I am sure it can be improved though. Good job gula merah!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food taste is good, worth to money. All the servant giving their best service and very helpful. The atmosphere of this resto is also cozy even it situated on an open stage resto. Overall, its nice to have dine with your love one or even friends here...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Byfar the best sayur asem I have tasted in Jakarta, however the fried chicken is bland I can't eat it, tried gado2, probably because it was in the evening the taste is like the Vegetables are about to go bad asap. The tofu and tempe penyet is good tho.
