Waktu itu saya bersama Rombongan GHS (Gombong Heritage Society) mengadakan ekspedisi ke Watu Kalbut karena konon ada Prasasti yang tertulis di Watu Kalbut. Saya mengalami kesulitan untuk membaca Prasasti tersebut dikarenakan beberapa bagian sudah aus. Karena mengalami kebuntuan, salah seorang anggota ekspedisi menanyakannya di Grup Belajar Bahasa Jawa Kuno yang mana ia dan saya adalah anggota grup tersebut. Hasilnya adalah tulisan tersebut merupakan sebuah sengkalan tahun yang berbunyi Tapa Bhaga Kachapa yang jika diangkakan menjadi 897 Saka atau sekitar tahun 975 Masehi. Dilihat dari bentuk aksaranya, aksara yang terpahat di Watu Kalbut adalah Aksara Kawi Square (Kotak). Hal ini sungguh unik karena bentuk aksara ini lebih banyak ditemukan di sekitar daerah Jawa Timur seperti Kediri dan lainnya.
Around October 2019, I've been to this place. At that time, I was with the GHS (Gombong Heritage Society) group on an expedition to Watu Kalbut because it was said that there was an inscription written on Watu Kalbut. I had difficulty reading the inscription because some parts were worn out. Because of the impasse, one of the expedition members asked him at the Old Javanese Language Learning Group which he and I were members of the group. The result is that the writing is a year chronology which reads Tapa Bhaga Kachapa which if numbered becomes 897 Saka or around 975 AD. Judging from the shape of the script, the script carved in Watu Kalbut is the Kawi Square (Box) script. This is really unique because this form of script is more commonly found around East Java areas such as Kediri and others.
