★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bintang Kepiting is one of the best places to taste crabs in the greater Jakarta area. Specifically located at BSD, it is in close proximity to the toll exit.
Although the restaurant offers a variety of seafood and non-seafood menu items, I have come to know that they offer a variety of crabs sourced from all over the nation. This is on top of those fabulous sauces to accompany these crabs that they make - most famous being the “saos padang,” or padang sauce, a slightly spicy and lightly hot bold taste. My favorite one being the Tarakan crabs which are delicious even to be had simply boiled, without sauce. The meat is sweet and succulent easily coming off the shell.
The restaurant refreshes its crabs supply every two days, thus maintaining its unquestionable freshness level of the crabs.
These crabs does not come cheap, but at the quality they are sourced and served made them value for money option for crab lovers and/or seafood hunters. Best to share a 700-800g piece between 2 people which rates at about Rp 350k give or take. You can always ask for a smaller or bigger crab to your liking.
Lastly, the humble joint features a family friendly environment albeit with no air conditioning. It still is comfortable nonetheless.
In conclusion, I recommend crab lovers to try the crabs here if they have not. For those who had tried, I would suggest to speak with the restaurant manager whose knowledge about crabs is outstanding. You may get more than what you have bargained for.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fresh crab and prawns. We immensely enjoyed our chili crab and fried butter prawns. Those seafood really went well with the sautéed morning glory veggies. Tasty and delicious. Perfect dinner at a simple seafood restaurant.
