One of my favorite spots in Jogja. I eat here regularly. It's a mystery how Pak Yanto makes such tasty chicken for so cheap.

Why I love this place? The taste IS really good. For those who love kinda-sweet taste plus spicy sambal, this place is a must! My friend told me that you can ask for extra bumbu kacang (peanut dressings?) too. For ovo-lacto vegan, this place has menu of eggs and soybean cake. Good price, good service, not an upscale place, and has a romantic touch...somehow.

An honest chap & his Ayam Bakar I’ve never written a review before. This is my first, just cause this place is the closest thing to heaven in Jogja (to me). Chicken is moist and tender, with a perfect combination of savory and sweetness. I ordered three additional pieces of chicken out of fear I’ll never taste anything like this again after leaving Jogja. My mum and wife thought I was mad - I’m not. They are for not ordering more. Plain white rice always resonates with my Chinese blood. But this one tasted exceptional after the sweet and strongly flavored Indonesian food we encountered frequently. The deep fried flour is crisp, light and very mildly salted. Just the way I like my potato chips. The chili is the glue that binds everything together - the chicken, white rice and fried floor. I can’t take spicy food well, but I was abusing myself throughout cause it’s just not ayam bakar without it. Lastly, the owner. Even with the language barrier we somehow managed to understand one another. We paid after our meal as with all the other patrons. He charged us the same as the locals and smiled warmly when I said ‘I’ll be back tomorrow’.
