If you really love spicy and want to try sambal, i recommend you to come to this place. It's a bit hard to find, but you can ask the locals there

The food are good, yet the place is a bit hard to find for a new comer in Depok. But if you take some transportation (as in: Ojek), it'll be easier for you to find this place.

At least once a month i come here to order ayam penyet and the newest menu jamur goreng tepung. I've been their customer since they sold sate gajah (a big slice of chicken with peanut sauce) and turned to ayam penyet until now. Very recommended for spicy food lover.

The best ayam penyet pedas (hot spicy smashed fried chicken) in around Margonda UI. It's established since (I guess) 2008, and still popular until right now. The price is really affordable, the sambal is amazingly hot yet delicious, and the fried chicken is tender and savory.

Located in the narrow alley nearby UI Station, but it's very worthed to try if you are a spicy hunter! The sambal is hot but fresh at the same time. All I need in this place actually is the sambal. For the rest menu? Just so-so for me. The price is affordable for students. The place is not fancy but convinient and clean enough to be a place to eat. Just info: the price was about 50k for 2 persons. (we ordered 2 package of ayam penyet, 4 glasses of ice tea, tumis kangkung, crispy mushroom + 1 extra rice

Foods are delicious, the "sambal" is really spicy somehow, although i was a little frustrated because they serve faster on Gojek drivers and sometimes even forgotten the customers who come to the place and the place is a little bit hard to find, overall a good place to eat, and also had low cost. You will need patience just in case

Personal favourite since my sophomore year at UI. Rumour has it the diner firstly sold large size satay (hence the name Sate Gajah), but the rather expensive satay grew unpopular with mainly cheapskate students so they stopped selling it. The main dish of the diner is then changed into Ayam Penyet. The Ayam Penyet portion size is actually quite small, but the sambal condiment is abundant. Not that you need them much, though, since the sambal is tongue-numbing! The combination of the rather sweet fried chicken with the super spicy sambal is heavenly, and this what makes people (both students and alumni) come back for more. For side dish, I suggest to order Crispy Mushroom (deep fried battered shitake) or Cah Kangkung (stir-fried watercress with shrimp paste). They also offer Ayam Bumbu Bali (fried chicken marinated with less spicy blend), fried liver, tempeh and tofu.
