★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The broth really good, but it's a little bit sweet. You can choose senerek ayam or senerek babat, both of them was good. Really worth for money. It is also famous for es beras kencur, it's well combined for nasi senerek.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm Javanese. I felt not so Javanese when I realize I didn't know what Senerek is. It is a traditional Magelang food. It is like chicken soup and veggie soup all together. The cold temperature of Magelang in the morning makes it perfect for breakfast, and enjoy the Kretek cigarette and a hot tea after that.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Some say it's javanese pronounciation of dutch's sneertenzoep, red bean soup. Three choices of topping: chicken, beef, and beef tripe. I chose the tripe; perhaps not the best choice (it's usually beef), but i enjoyed it anyway. If you ever in Magelang, give it a try.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place is in the center of Magelang City, central java near the alon-alon (public plaza), gas stasion or magelang catholic church.
The place is not so easy to see, but its location is just 30 m from the crossroad.
The place is not so big, sometimes you have to wait before you can sit specially on lunch time.
The soup is a version of clear red bean soup, without clove infredients. So it become fresh and lighter in taster. Very suitable for lunch.
You must also try the brongkos menu, the dark and heavier soup. The meat is very delicate, very good for old teeth like mine.
Tempe and tahu bacem is also good, not too sweet but the seasoning can be tasted until the center of the tahu/tempe. The slice of tahu/tempe is big so you should think to share with companion.
The price is friendly tk our wallet...
You better dress casual, because the don't have any air conditioning.
A must try if you visit this city...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A must thing to do whenever I go to Magelang. The broth is tasty and refreshing. This food makes me remember home, like a dish that my grandma used to cook when I was child. I prefer the soup with innards, rather than the soup with chicken. It's more savory and fulfilling.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place is serving Sop Senerek, the Indonesian version of "Snert Soup", the local cuisine from Magelang that you should try.
The soup is using beef, red-bean and spinach. Very tasty and highly recommended. Recommended for Breakfast and Lunch.
The price is cheap and affordable.
