Direktur Pencegahan dan Pengendalian Penyakit Tidak Menular Kementerian Kesehatan, dr Lily Sriwahyuni Sulistyowati mengatakan, jumlah perokok di Indonesia saat ini mencapai 90 juta jiwa.
Berdasarkan riset Atlas Tobbaco, ujar Lily, Indonesia menduduki rangking satu dengan jumlah perokok tertinggi di dunia. "Bisa dibilang Indonesia itu juara merokok," ujarnya, (Republika, 24/5). Indonesia menduduki rangking pertama dalam jumlah perokok disusul Rusia rangking kedua, kemudia Cina, Filipina, dan Vietnam. Sebanyak dua dari tiga laki-laki di Indonesia adalah perokok.
