★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ini adalah maskot Jakarta, yaitu Elang Bondol dan Salak Condet. Meski bukan satwa endemik Jakarta, pada 1989 Elang Bondol ditetapkan menjadi maskot Jakarta Indonesia ini bersama dengan Salak Condet.
Elang Bondol adalah nama yang diberikan masyarakat Jakarta untuk burung yang bernama latin Haliastur Indus. Elang Bondol termasuk keluarga burung pemangsa. Namun dalam rantai makanan, elang itu pun menjadi mangsa predator lain, seperti biawak. Habitatnya kebanyakan di pantai, daratan berair, hutan, maupun dataran rendah.
Terusiknya habitat Elang Bondol juga dipicu oleh pertambahan penduduk Jakarta. Pohon-pohon tinggi yang banyak tumbuh di Jakarta ini berganti gedung-gedung pencakar langit. Bondol pun harus bertahan di pulau-pulau kecil di Kepulauan Seribu seperti di Pulau Kotok dan Pulau Pramuka.
Sesuai namanya, Salak Condet banyak ditemukan di kawasan Condet, Jakarta Timur. Namun kini salak condet seolah tinggal kenangan. Asam manisnya salak asli Betawi juga tidak bisa dirasakan. Condet kini berubah menjadi kawasan pemukiman yang padat penduduk.
Berbeda dengan Elang Bondol, Salak Condet adalah buah asli Kota Jakarta. Konon, buah salak dari perkampungan warga Betawi itu tembus ke sejumlah kota di Pulau Jawa dan Sumatra.
Namun kini keberadaan Elang Bondol dan juga Salak Condet mulai terlupakan. Kita hanya melihat Elang Bondol dan Salak Pondok saat sedang menunggu bus Transjakarta. Pasalnya moda transportasi massal itu menggunakan elang Bondol dan salak Condet sebagai logonya.

The Bondol Eagle is the name given by the people of Jakarta to a bird whose Latin name is Haliastur Indus. The Bondol Eagle belongs to the family of birds of prey. But in the food chain, the eagle also becomes prey to other predators, such as monitor lizards. Its habitat is mostly on the coast, watery land, forests, and lowlands.
The disturbance in the habitat of the Bondol Eagle is also triggered by the increase in Jakarta's population. The tall trees that grow a lot in Jakarta are replaced by skyscrapers. Bondol also had to survive on small islands in the Thousand Islands such as on Kotok Island and Pramuka Island.
As the name implies, Condet Salak can be found in the Condet area, East Jakarta. But now salak condet seems to be just a memory. You can't even feel the sweet and sour taste of the original Betawi salak. Condet has now turned into a densely populated residential area.
Unlike the Bondol Eagle, Salak Condet is a fruit native to the City of Jakarta. It is said that the salak fruit from the village of Betawi residents penetrated a number of cities on the islands of Java and Sumatra.
But now the existence of Bondol Eagle and Condet Salak is starting to be forgotten. We only saw Bondol Eagle and Salak Pondok while waiting for the Transjakarta bus. This is because the mass transportation mode uses the Bondol eagle and Condet bark as its logo.
