Belia, muda, maupun tua tidak ada yang tahu, mereka pun bisa merasakan kematian. Setahun yang silam, kita barangkali melihat saudara kita dalam keadaan sehat bugar, ia pun masih muda dan kuat. Namun hari ini ternyata ia telah pergi meninggalkan kita. Kita pun tahu, kita tidak tahu kapan maut menjemput kita. Entah besok, entah lusa, entah kapan. Namun kematian sobat kita, itu sudah cukup sebagai pengingat, penyadar dari kelalaian kita. Bahwa kita pun akan sama dengannya, akan kembali pada Allah. Dunia akan kita tinggalkan di belakang. Dunia hanya sebagai lahan mencari bekal. Alam akhiratlah tempat akhir kita.
Sungguh kematian dari orang sekeliling kita banyak menyadarkan kita. Oleh karenanya, kita diperingatkan untuk banyak-banyak mengingat mati.
