Sekolah ini juga terletak di pusat kota dan sekaligus dekat di tengah tempat wisata kebanggaan warga purwakarta yaitu Situ Buleud.
SMP N 1 Purwakarta is a Favorite Advanced School for prospective students, because the physical condition of the school is very adequate and comfortable for learning for students. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ saat memasuki sekolah ini, anak anak terkesan sangatlah sopan dan rapi. Lingkungan juga terlihat bersih. Bahkan guru guru disana sangat menghargai tamu sekolah. Walaupun, masih ada beberapa anak ( sedikit ) yang tidak menghargai, atau mengikuti peraturan sekolah
