Kabarnya si di stasiun inilah akan dibuatkan percabangan rel menuju bandara baru New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) jadi kedepannya stasiun ini akan aktif kembali melayani rute menuju ke stasiun Bandara NYIA, untuk keretanya, sepertinya PT KAI melalui anak perusahaan PT Railink dengan nama usahanya ARS ( Airport Railink Service) telah memesan kereta tersebut ke PT INKA seperti halnya kereta Bandara Minangkabau atau Kereta Bandara Adi Sumarmo Solo yang sementara ini digunakan sebagai armada KA Solo Ekspress, jadi wujud keretanya kurang lebih seperti itu, well kita tunggu aja ya keretanya besok kayak apa dan jalur keretanya kayak apa, mengingat sekarang pengerjaan yang baru di kebut adalah bandaranya jadi untuk jalur KA nya baru sebatas planing, menarik untuk ditunggu - CMIIW

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stasiun ini dinonaktifkan pasca double track Yogyakarta-Kutoarjo. Saat ini bangunannya sangat kumuh dan tidak terawat. Banyak sampah berserakan. Rencananya stasiun ini akan diaktifkan kembali sebagai pusat kendali percabangan ke arah Bandara Internasional Yogyakarta.
This station is deactivated after the Yogyakarta-Kutoarjo double track. Currently the building is very dirty and not maintained. Lots of rubbish littered. It is planned that the station will be reactivated as a branching control center towards Yogyakarta International Airport.
