★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sop Kaki Dudung Roxy or Dudung's Roxy Goat Feet Soup is a legendary cuisine in Jakarta that ages well. The passing of Dudung in February 2018 made it up to local online newspapers. God speed Pak Dudung and thanks for showing us how to actually enjoys goat with a soup.
Now, this place is the place where he started his business. Don't expect fancy place, in fact, it's only a temporary tent on the side of the street. However, I can't prepare you enough for what's coming.
First, expect a long wait. I'm not exaggerating when I say, you will struggle to get your meals prepared. Not enough seating, humid atmosphere, and buzzing with whatever sounds that can invades your eardrums. The culinary experience starts as soon as you stepped into the stall.
Second, it might be easy for locals to digest the various steamed goat's organs on the table, be aware foreigners, looks can be deceiving. If you're an adventurer, yes, come. But if you're the Michelin's type, you better look for Dudung's branch somewhere else.
Third, if you're vegetarian, vegan, or avoiding red meats, this isn't the place for you. As well, if you're people-phobia, claustrophobia, anti-sosial kind of person, let's eat Dudung's somewhere else. However, if you're an anthropologist, sociologist, food-lover yes? Come! You'll gain a lot by visiting this place.
Ah yes, the food. As the name implies, most of them either with soup or has goat in it. The gems laid on the soup. When you sip the soup while chewing the meat, that's where all that magic happens. People often pair the meals with sweet ice tea or es teh manis.
There no particular manner in eating, you come, pick the piece that you want, you pay, you seat (if you're lucky), food came, you eat, and done. Be sure to have someone fluent with Bahasa Indonesia, everything is going to be fast.
Conclusion. I won't say it's a must visit place for foreigners, but, if you're looking for a local experience, put it on number two. Because number one is about smoking kretek.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am not a fan of goat meat or other types of gamey meats but omg this place is amazing. Definitely try even if I'm not a fan of goat meat. The meat was cooked perfectly. I loved the meat they prepare with the soup. It was tender and the soup so flavorful. I don't know if it is the best goat soup restaurant, I just know I want to go again. Love it.
