Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) Negeri 140 adalah sekolah filial dari SMP Negeri 30 Jakarta, semula SMP Negeri 140 berlokasi di Komplek BPP Walang - Koja, Jakarta Utara; berada satu komplek dengan SMP Negeri 151.
Terhitung tanggal 12 April 1982 baru mulai menempati gedung di Komplek Setneg Blok A Sunter Agung Jakarta Utara yang diresmikan oleh BapakGubernur DKI Tjokropranolo.
Kemudian pada tahun 2005 direhab total di buat 3 lantai oleh Dinas Pendidikan Dasar dan selesai pembangunannya pada tahun 2007 dan diresmikan oleh Bapak Gubernur DKI Jakarta Sutiyoso pada tanggal 11 November 2007.
History:
Junior High School 140 (SMP) is a filial school of SMP Negeri 30 Jakarta, originally SMP Negeri 140 was located in the BPP Walang - Koja Complex, North Jakarta; is in a complex with SMP Negeri 151.
As of April 12, 1982, it has just started occupying a building in the Secretariat Complex of Block A Sunter Agung, North Jakarta, which was inaugurated by the Governor of DKI Tjokropranolo.
Then in 2005 a total of 3 floors were rehabilitated by the Department of Basic Education and the construction was completed in 2007 and was inaugurated by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Sutiyoso on November 11, 2007.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good at all. The teacher are nice. My fav teacher is Maam Suridah, bu Margareth, Ms. Tryani, Mr. Ariyanto. I'm so grateful utk sekolah disini. My opinion teacher yg paling disiplin itu bu Margreth. 'Cause dia selalu nerapin kedisiplinan for her student. Like when muridnya ada yg ga ngerjain pr or gabawa buku, whtv yg melanggar aturan dia lgsg kasih sanksi yg really really pas buat muridnya. And for guruku yg lain. I luv u. I always trying hard for y'all <3
Good at all. The teacher are nice. My fav teacher is Maam Suridah, Mrs. Margareth, Ms. Tryani, Mr. Ariyanto. I'm so grateful for going to school here. My opinion teacher who is the most disciplined is Mrs. Margreth. 'Cause he always teaches discipline for her student. Like when there are students who do not do the homework or carrying the book, whtv who violates the rules he continues to give sanctions that really fit the student. And for my other teachers. I luv u. I always trying hard for y'all <3
