Pernah menjadi urutan ke-33 se-Indonesia sebagai Sekolah Berintegritas dalam Menyelenggarakan Ujian Nasional yang diberikan langsung oleh Menteri Pendidikan saat itu, Anies Baswedan. Selalu menang jika mengikuti perlombaan akademis maupun nonakademis. Salah satunya mendapatkan Silver Medal dalam Asia Science and Math Olympiad for Primary School tahun 2018. Merupakan sekolah ramah anak, sekolah rujukan, mantan Rintisan Sekolah Bertaraf Internasional, dll. Letaknya strategis, dekat dengan alun alun, masjid, gereja, perpustakaan, kodim, kantor pos, bank, pujasera, dll. Sekolah ini memiliki 2 kampus untuk kampus kelas VII sendiri dan kampus kelas VIII dan IX. Ada beberapa kelas yang merupakan bangunan tinggalan Belanda yang kini menjadi cagar budaya dan dipakai untuk kegiatan belajar mengajar. Gurunya ramah, pintar, berprestasi. Siswanya ganteng, cantik, pinter. Nggak nyesel kalau sekolah di sini..
 Many awards were received by Wonosobo 1 Public Middle School. Kekurangannya sekolahnya sempit karena lahan terbatas

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ SMP favorit di Wonosobo.Sebagian gedungnya masih asli arsitektur jaman Belanda.Terlihat dari semua bagian,baik pintu,jendela berukuran besar.Tembok tebal dan tinggi.Karena keaslian dan sejarahnya,bangunan lama masuk sebagai cagar budaya kabupaten Wonosobo.Lokasi ada di pusat kota Wonososbo,sebelah barat alun-alun,diapit masjid Jami' dan Kantor Pos Besar Wonosobo.
