Dari tahun 80an sekolah ini merupakan satu satunya sekolah negeri di Prembun dan amat diminati oleh calon calon siswa dari daerah sekitar pun daerah lain..
Karena mutu pendidikanya yang baik di semua jurusan baik IPA, IPS, BAHASA Terbukti para Aluminya banyak yang diterima di perguruan tinggi negeri, maupun suwasta, disamping itu banyak yang sukses menjadi pejabat pemerintah waupun swasta yang bisa membawa nama baik sekolah..

SMAN Prembun memiliki 5 kelas untuk jurusan IPA, dan 5 kelas untuk jurusan IPS. Pengajar disini memiliki latar belakang pendidikan yang berjenjang. Fasilitas yang terdapat disini terbilang cukup, adapun jika bisa dilengkapi mungkin lebih baik. Kondisi lingkungan diisi cukup rindang dan asri, bisa dibuktikan dengan banyaknya pohon dan tanaman yang ada disekolah ini. Tak cukup itu, sekolah ini juga sering menorehkan prestasi yang bergengsi, mulai dari tingkat lokal hingga nasional. Tak menutup kemungkinan akan banyak siswa yang memilih bersekolah disini. sekolah yang dapat dikatakan favorit.
