★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the most succesful Padang Restaurant franchise in Indonesia. IMHO it's the largest in term of the number of franchise. This one is in Benhil, Jakarta.
The term sederhana means "simple" or "modest" or even "plain". The reality is far from its name. The food is complex and top notch Padang cuisine. It is full of spice, full of umami and the hot chilli sambal gives extra kick to their rich flavour.
From the classic rendang, ayam pop, red and green sambal, turmeric fried chicken, gulai ayam, gulai kepala ikan, to the humble young jack fruit, oseng tempe, etc, all will spoil your taste buds. Amazingly delicious!
This restaurant in Benhil is pretty famous for the mid-high end customers. Mostly crowded during lunch. It has 2 floors, the 2nd floor is for smokers. The officers work very effective and efficiently. Maybe too efficient they rarely smile. Besides if your restaurant is always full, why bother smiling? Hmmmmm
The price is premium, not sederhana. Around IDR 30K - 100K per person, depends on what you order (of course).
The biggest problem is on the 2nd floor, the air conditioning is far from working well. The wind from the fan is strong, and that is all about it. It is not even cool, it is hot and humid like hell (?). Not that I've been to hell though. ?
It is that hot and uncomfortable you feel the sweat - sticky your whole body. This is my 2nd time dine in here and with exactly the same experience. I gave feedback and no improvement. Too bad.
This hot, humid and uncomfortable worth 2 star fall off from the rank.
