★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great and clean rooms, OK view. It is just the room that I stayed in, has creaky floorboards, and the floor is sort of sunken a bit? Oh, the TV remote did not work. And I could use a bit more hospitality from the receptionist.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great/price value if you need to stay in this area. Easy parking. A bit noisy as its on a busy street. I like the general ferl of the hotel. Good breakfast. If they had a swimming pool i would give it 5 stars.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Room was clean and nice. Nice hot shower, and comfy bed/pillows. But there are no fridge. The breakfast, I am a bit disappointed, because doesn't have western breakfast like sausages, omelete, hash browns etc. I can't eat spicy food so my choices were limited as they just serve rice and spicy dishes.

First of all; the room aren’t nearly nice as the photos would lead you to believe and it is clear the hotel has been poorly maintained over the years.
Staff, particularly the desk (cleaning and maintenance was very polite and helpful), was extremely uncooperative. We spent about 3 million on three rooms for relatives and had to fight the desk to simply get bottles of water because we moved rooms (we were extending a stay and booked another room but stayed in our original room) we ended up having to buy water on the street to not deal with their nonsense. Simple requests for a bowl and spoon were declined. Request for a shower cap (they weren’t provide) was declined. Request for extra glasses for our relatives, declined.
Additionally I noticed that there was a lot of English speaking foreigners at this hotel; the staff *does not* speak English, languages are a skill and there is no personal judgement against those who aren’t conversational, but repeatedly I would ask if they speak English (Saya masih belajar bahasa indonesia) and repeatedly told that they do to not understand what I was saying or how to reply and falling back to google translate. I mention this because I am aware that I wasn’t the only guest with this issue.
Room’s (the one we selected as the others we were shown had stains all over the beds and walls) surface was clean, but made the mistake of looking under the bed after my wife discovered an unused condom after dropping her charger (I suppose beats finding a used condom, but I digress) and it was beyond disgusting culminating in being harassed to checkout.
We had high hopes for this hotel, it was a great location it looked cozy and comfortable and we were quite disappointed by the reality that this hotel is ten years overdue for a renovation, staff that routinely left us to simply solve issues ourselves instead of offering to assist, and far overpriced for the actual rooms you get.
We debated getting another night for business in Jakarta and decided to go with another hotel called the Fave Hotel and has made us truly regret booking the Samala at all.

There is no airport shuttle to airport but traveloka information does have that facility. Very disappointed with that and after arguing there is no solution from hotel and traveloka.
Ps. Transport from airport to hotel is up to Rp150k and is dominant with blue colour
