Kiai Muzani Kebumen dan Hukuman Bagi Guru yang Mengucap “Bodoh” Kepada Santri ====================== Sore itu seorang guru dipanggil Kiai Muzani. Suasana pesantren berubah sedikit tegang. Ada kecemasan di wajah guru yang dipanggil itu. Ketika guru itu telah sampai di ndalem kiai, Ia duduk sembari menundukkan kepalanya. Kakinya tidak bersila, tapi menyamping seperti posisi duduk perempuan. Tak lama kemudian, Kiai Muzani keluar dari ruang tengah membawa nampan yang berisi dua piring nasi dan dua gelas teh hangat. Beliau duduk di hadapan santri yang telah menjadi guru itu dan menyodorkan nampan itu. “Monggo didahar, kang—silahkan dimakan, kang,” ujarnya dengan lembut. “Kulo sampun.—saya sudah,”jawabnya terbata-bata. “Mboten kerso tho dahar sareng kulo?—tidak berkenan makan bersama saya?”tanya Kiai Muzani dengan tersenyum. “Monggo didahar—silahkan dimakan,”lanjutnya sembari menggeser satu piring nasi itu di depan santrinya. “Nggih Kiai—baik kiai,”santri yang telah menjadi guru dan pengurus pondok itu makan dengan penuh ketidak-nyamanan. Setelah selesai makan, Kiai Muzani bertanya: “Benar tadi pagi njenengan mengumbar kata ‘bodoh’ pada salah seorang santri yang tidak lancar menyetorkan hafalannya?” “Benar, Kiai,” jawabnya terbata-bata. “Jangan lakukan itu lagi,” kata Kiai Muzani. “Dalam proses belajar, kita tidak boleh mengumbar kata ‘bodoh’. Para santri itu orang yang sedang berporses, dari kurang tahu menjadi sedikit tahu, kemudian bertambah pengetahuannya. Ada yang cepat, ada pula yang lambat. Jika seorang guru, seperti njenengan, dengan mudah mengatakan muridnya bodoh, apa artinya pengajaran dan pendidikan?” Santri itu diam, tertunduk tanpa berani memandang wajah kiainya. “Perlu diingat, tidak ada orang bodoh, yang ada hanya orang yang sedang berusaha menghilangkan kebodohannya. Jadi, jangan dilakukan lagi, ya? Memberikan label bodoh kepada mereka, sama saja dengan mengendurkan keinginan belajar mereka,” ujarnya perlahan dan jelas. “Tapi ya, karena sudah terlanjur, njenengan harus pilih kafaratnya, sedekah atau puasa.” “Puasa mawon, Kiai—puasa saja, Kiai,” katanya dengan kepala masih tertunduk. “Baik, tapi ada syaratnya, buka dan sahurnya harus bersama saya di sini,” ucap Kiai Muzani dengan senyum yang terus mengembang. Santri itu hanya menunduk, tak mampu berkata apa-apa lagi. Di wajahnya menampakkan rasa malu dan segan yang luar biasa. Jauh-jauh hari, ketika masih menjadi santri di Pondok Pesantren Darussa’adah, Bulus, Kritig, Kebumen, saya sering mendengar Romo Kiai Muzani dawuh: “Pesantren itu bukan sekedar tempat pengajaran, tapi tempat pendidikan. Karenanya pesantren menerima semua orang. Anak nakal ketika masuk pesantren diharapkan kenakalannya bisa berkurang. Anak baik-baik ketika masuk pesantren diharapkan kebaikannya bertambah. Maka dari itu, untuk para ustadz, hati-hatilah dalam mendidik dan mengajar, jangan sampai kata-kata ‘bodoh’ dan ‘nakal’ keluar dari kemarahan kalian. Jika ada yang melakukannya, harus bayar kafarat. Bukan sebagai kewajiban hukum, tapi kewajiban moral kita sebagai pendidik, bahwa untuk sesaat kita telah lalai dan marah, sehingga mengeluarkan kata-kata tak bijak semacam itu.” Di waktu lain, beliau dawuh: “Ucapan ‘bodoh’ itu bisa menjadi pemutus keinginan belajar santri. Dikhawatirkan Ia akan memandang belajar tidak lagi berguna, toh saya orang bodoh, tidak ada harapan untuk saya, guru agama saya sendiri memvonis saya sebagai orang bodoh. Jika itu terjadi, kita telah mencegah kewajiban thalâb al-‘ilm (menuntut ilmu). Jangan sampai tindakan dan ucapan kalian sebagai guru, menjadi benih keputus-asaan murid dalam menuntut ilmu.” Kiai Muzani menerapkan kebijakan kafarat tidak lain sebagai pendidikan spiritual untuk para guru di pesantrennya. Selama mereka tinggal di pesantren, mereka adalah santri yang memerlukan pendidikan. Karena itu, Kiai Muzani biasanya mendampingi pelaksanaan kafarat santri atau puteranya sendiri yang kadung melontarkan kata-kata itu. Bersambung...
