★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pada tanggal 5 September 1991, SMA Negeri 1 Pengasih resmi mendapat SK dari Depdikbud Pusat sebagai salah satu SMA Negeri di Kabupaten Kulon Progo Propinsi D.I. Yogyakarta. Sebelum SK ini turun semula sekolah ini bernama SPG Negeri Wates, dan setelah SPG/SGO seluruh Indonesia dihapus alih fungsi menjadi SMA.
 On September 5, 1991, Pengasih 1 Public High School officially received a decree from the Central Ministry of Education and Culture as one of the State High Schools in Kulon Progo Regency, D.I Province. Yogyakarta. Before this decree was dropped, the school was originally named SPG Negeri Wates, and after SPG / SGO throughout Indonesia was removed from function to high school.
