★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Been here several times. Main dish is pempek and tekwan. Pempek is fried fishcake and dipped in a plate of sour soup. The sour soup is named cuko made of tamarin, garlic, chilies and palm sugar. The fishcake has many varieties, kapal selam (fish cake with boiled egg in the inside), adaan, lenjer lenggang (all fish cakes with different shapes) and last one is kulit (fish cake mixed with fish skins). Tekwan is fishcake (in big teardrops shape) that is served with fish soup, rice noodles, mushrooms and turnip. And the last one is otak-otak. it's baked fish cake and wrapped with banana leaves. but this place works beyond that, it also serves rice and fried chicken, for those who don't really have taste buds for fishes. The cuko is quite strong, so those who are not that strong is suggested to have tekwan or rice and fried chicken. Pempek is local delicacy that is originated from South Sumatra and its islands (Bangka and Belitung). The abundance of fishes makes this menu is part of daily dishes. Just ask locals...they can have tekwan or model for breakfast, and pempek for the rest of the day. Model is like tekwan, but they put pempek shape fishcakes instead of teardrops fishcakes.
