This market was formerly known as Pasar Barakan. The market is small and only crowded on certain market days. In the past, Simbok sometimes took me to this market. Walk about 10 kilometers from the house to sell books such as cassava, banana leaves for wrapping, corn, bananas, and others. I came home with my favorite dumplings. Now this place is famous for its durian during the durian season. Along the road around this place, namely the Hanging Bridge, many families have opened temporary stalls to sell durian when the durian season arrives.

The view of the Guthekan Market in 2013-2014 is still simple in the form of a slash with bamboo slash and only operates in the morning. On the side of the road before the Duwet bridge was lined with barbers on market day. During the durian season, this market is the right place for durian lovers because on the left and right sides of the Magelang lined durian sellers at prices far more friendly than prices in the city of Yogyakarta. It is said that from the 1980s this place has been used to sell durian. HISTORY Let's pull far back before the 1800s where the suspension bridge hasn't been built yet. This market was originally a market moved from the Village District Plataran. Sleman named Pasar Barakan. According to market informants moved along with the development and location that was felt to be more strategic, because it was closer to the main transportation facilities to cross the Progo river which was in the form of a crossing "gèthèk" aka bamboo canoe to Kulonprogo. The gththek crossing point is located in the Pulo - Nggesik area (currently a tourist attraction for the Kedung Bendho waterfall). Previously this area was still in the form of high sandbanks, empty and often made a place of rest for traders who want to trade from Jogja to Kulonprogo. Because there used to be a fairly wide access road along the Progo river. But the activities of traders who mostly use horses and walk are often disturbed by robbers who like to rob. Finally someone named Podo Astono ventured to set up a warung in the front of the market today so that traders could have a shelter. Gradually the place became more crowded and the original stall was finally built by the house. In addition, at that time in the 1800s a suspension bridge was pioneered (originally a wooden bridge). Many traders began to move from the Barakan market to this place. This market was later known as Guthekan Market. The heyday of this market in the 1900-2000s where there were not many online sales and minimarkets. If there are errors or additional corrections, please.
