I have been a big fan of traditional market so it was really good to have one nearby.
I like this place because it is only 15 minutes walk from home. It has complete varieties of items you normally find in traditional market. Abundant fresh vegetables and fruits, fresh meat including beef, chicken, fish and more seafood, spices, tempe and tahu my favorite, ground spices and freshly grated coconut, cakes and munchies, kitchen appliances and plastic wares, all kinds of wrappings and to-go packaging, recycled products, clothes, shoes, accessories, under garments, school supplies, medicines, cosmetics and even gold shops.
It has mini restaurants selling ready-to-eat food like gudeg, krecek, perkedel, pepes, pindang, Padang food and more.
The price is very friendly and you can negotiate and bargain as well. The people here are usually friendly and generous.
The health protocol is observed. Wearing mask is a must and in many spots you can find hand - washing stations with soap and water. I saw officers strolling around to remind everyone to wear mask. I don’t see hand sanitizer but we always bring it anywhere. Physical distancing can be a bit difficult but the market is not packed, especially during Covid - 19.
It has many levels with stairs, I guess around 4 floors. Basement to 2nd floor are packed with veggie, fruits and meat vendors, while 1st floor has many clothes, shoes and similar items.
It is not yet friendly for people with disabilities but I hope one day they will consider providing access to them. It is also still dirty and smelly in some corners as waste management is still an issue. I wish they clean it more often. Nevertheless, the items we can find here is great and it worth a visit.
