★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It used to wow me but Ottoya has went down far below my even slightest expectation. I saw the restaurant is empty which is the main reason i had lunch there. I chose this set menu and failed terribly. The chawan mushi was cold. I never had a cold chawan mushi ever and the mackarel is too salty, not even warm. The only things that edible is warm rice and hot miso soup. The hot ocha is not even hot.
The only reason i gave 3 stars because i don't have a heart for 1-2 star. Please pay attentions to your food ottoya. Now i get why it is so empty now.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ootoya never fails to bring Japanese food with the right atmosphere. It feels like you are eating it in Japan. The food here is generally has a smooth feeling and very thought out. The rice topping is a delight to consume. The food is also of high quality. This is where I go when I miss Japan.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ootoya has been my go to places for Japanese comfort food, especially their Tori Kurozu. They made changes to their Tori Kurozu in the past several times, I’m glad to see that they are selling it without the mackarel in a combo dish.
I really like its vinegar sauce and the tanginess it brought out, and won’t settle for anything less. It’s a great dish overall, but their price has become a little bit high for the amount of food we got. I got 4 pieces of deep-fried chicken, that’s a bit low for a 81k IDR menu (without rice combo).
