★ ★ ★ ★ ★ SOWAN is a dialect word from Java tribes means "to appeal" or "make a visit to someone hold a respect" such as teachers, old people, parents, etc.
This Sowan is a souvenir shops which most of the items are dry and preserved food like chips, nuts, biscuits, cassava, and variety of chilli sauce from all over Indonesia.
Well if you want to have signature dry foods from all over Indonesia, you can find them in this shop.
In conclusion the Sowan shop means a place to buy something before visiting someone hold respect and bring him or her any souvenir from there.
For the fresh food there's a counter of "lumpia semarang" a kind of Spring rolls contains of chopped bamboo shoots, shrimp and bean sprout. This spring rolls is a signature food of Semarang city.
