Pros: great learning experience, not just for history buffs. Good collection of ships model, old to newer ones. Diorama of great explorers are good. Cheap, for idr 5000 you can spend a good 2-3hrs, perhaps too cheap. Serene, not congested Cons: undermantain and not updated. A lot more could n should be done to preserve and improve or expand.

A lovely little museum that doesn't seem to get a lot of guests. Featuring both miniature models of ships and actual examples of local boats donated to the museum, the exhibits tell the story of trade, spices and war. I arrived early in the morning and was given a free tour, which was extremely enjoyable. The ticket price is extremely cheap, and well worth it for the permanent exhibits alone. This museum is also an awesome opportunity to see a well-preserved old Dutch building with hardwood flooring and shutters on the windows. The tower is currently under renovation, but I'm sure the view would have been very pretty. From here, I recommend you walk up to the harbour (out of the gate, turn left left left and go through the gate that says please don't walk here), where you can see some real boats in action!

Have been there more than 10 years ago. Love the new visual and loads of knowledge despite fire accident in 2018. Sure will recommend friends & relatives to visit the museum.

A silent gem from the north part of Jakarta. The museum has a strong colonial vibes in it and it provides very deep insights about Batavia's history. Cleanliness here is also a plus point. The staffs are very welcoming and very helpful. Very history-rich place, definitely will come back in the near future.

The first time we went to the maritime museum, we were very happy because our children really enjoyed the explanation of information from the tour guide. Thank you very much to Mr.Firman for providing detailed information to us. Hopefully this museum will be known from all walks of life because maritime history is interesting.
