★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lambang UI ini dirancang oleh seseorang bernama Sumartono, mahasiswa jurusan Seni Rupa Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) yang saat itu ditugaskan untuk membuat lambang UI.
gambar yang terlihat di makara itu adalah pohon.pohon berikut cabang dan kuncup itu melambangkan ilmu pengetahuan dengan cabang-cabang ilmu pengetahuannya, sementara kuncup-kuncup tersebut suatu saat akan mekar dan menjadi cabang ilmu pengetahuan baru.
The UI symbol was designed by someone named Sumartono, a student majoring in Fine Arts from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) who was then assigned to make the UI symbol.
