If you have a Javanese tongue, you will like the specialties of Mbah Carik like jadah, tempe bacem, and wajik. Don't get confused, the place has moved far to the backyard (both the restaurant and the gift shop).

Mbah Carik is a legendary tempe and sweet tofu seller since long time ago. This street food has become an icon in the Telaga Putri parking park, seemed not satisfied if not bought, even though there are in many places. The price is inexpensive.

One of the many warungs in Kaliurang. Buy local sweets or drink some coffee or tea. Beware of the monkeys, although they don't come to close to the warungs. Entree to Kaliurang area Rp 8.000 for 2 persons on 1 motor, parking just Rp 3.000. Really a nice place and pretty cool because it's up in the hills. A 25 km ride from Yogyakarta.

The sticky rice is delicious, we can enjoy with tempe bacem. This is the traditional local food you can find in kaliurang.

No need to write a long paragraph about how delicious their food is. And everybody knows, you don’t visit to Kaliurang, if you never try the famous Javanese snack, “jadah” from the authentic “jadah” seller, “Jadah Mbah Carik”. I highly recommend you to visit and try their food. For those of you who don’t know what’s “jadah” is, let me enlighten you. Jadah is a traditional and authentic Javanese snack, made from sticky rice, grated coconut, and coconut milk, which taste salty and savory. And usually it’s served and eaten with some side dish such as “tempe bacem” (braised tempeh), or “tahu bacem” (braised tofu), or “wajik” (sweet sticky rice), which taste sweet. If you eaten “jadah” with one of the side dish, it’ll create a balance flavor of salty, savory and sweet. Some people also enjoy to bite chilies while eating jadah with braised tempeh or tofu, to creat more flavorful after taste. If you don’t like sweet or tend to avoid sweet food, it’s also fine just to eat the “jadah” by itself, because the “jadah” itself is already so tasty.

This is unique restaurant. Traditional food. All menus are traditional. I ilke Sayur lodeh, empal manis, ayam goreng, and sambel. Please be careful with some menus cause it really weird for me...such as Belalang goreng and Kepompong Goreng. Oya...if you ordered Es Campur, you will find out Antimainframe Es Campur...??. The taste is likely candy yaaa. The restaurant is easily to reach. In the wonosari. Ok have a nice try yaaaa

Legendary traditional food in Jogjakarta. sweet tempeh/tofu (becem) with jadah (mixture of glutinous rice, coconut, bay). Authentic taste, affordable price. Beware of monkeys if you buy the jadah here ?.
