★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Got the rip-off special from this place. Ordered two meals. One consisted of rice, chicken, 2 potato cakes and an omelette while the other consisted of rice, chicken, 2 potato cakes and a drizzle of curry sauce. It cost 70,000 rupiah altogether which is quite steep. You can get the same for 30,000 - 50,000. It loses a star for the price.
The rice was okay, it was seasoned with tumeric but lacked other flavour. They serve quite a large portion of rice. The chicken tasted nice but it was dry. The potato cakes were awesome. They were tender, flavourful and went well with the rice. The omelette was also great. It was cooked perfectly and had spring onion mixed through it. Masakan Padang loses another star for dry chicken and rice that lacked flavour.
Overall the experience was okay. The potato cakes and omelette are a must try if you go here but I feel you can get better value for money elsewhere.
