Markas Komando (disingkat Mako) Menwa UI bertempat di Kampus UI Depok, di antara Gerbang Utama UI dan Asrama UI.
Menwa merupakan komponen cadangan pertahanan negara yang diberikan pelatihan dasar militer seperti penggunaan senjata, taktik pertempuran, survival, bela diri militer, senam militer, penyamaran, navigasi dan sebagainya.
Anggota menwa (wira) di setiap perguruan tinggi atau kampus membentuk satuan-satuan yang merupakan salah satu bagian organisasi mahasiswa / mahasiswi di unit kegiatan mahasiswa (UKM). Menwa diberikan wewenang dan tanggung jawab yang berbeda dengan UKM lain dan berada langsung dibawah rektorat.
The Student Regiment (abbreviated Menwa) is one of the civil forces that is trained and prepared to defend the Unitary Republic of Indonesia as a manifestation of the Universal People's Defense and Security System (Sishankamrata). Command Headquarters (abbreviated as Mako) Menwa UI is located at UI Depok Campus, between the UI Main Gate and UI Dormitory.
Menwa is a national defense reserve component that is given basic military training such as the use of weapons, fighting tactics, survival, military martial arts, military exercises, disguises, navigation and so on.
Menwa (wira) members in each college or campus form units which are part of the student organization in the student activity unit (UKM). Menwa is given different authority and responsibilities with other SMEs and is directly under the rector.
