Ziarah kubur dahulu memang sering dilakukan oleh orang-orang jahiliyah, bahkan pada zaman itu, kuburan menjadi salah satu sumber dan sasaran pembaktian kaum penyembah berhala, sehingga pada saat itu ziarah kubur dilarang oleh Nabi Muhammad SAW karena takut akan terjadi kesyirikan.
Sedangkan iman dan tauhid yang ditanamkan oleh Rasulullah SAW kepada para pengikutnya baru saja pada tahap permulaan, belum mendarah daging dalam jiwa mereka.
Kapan Ziarah Kubur Dibolehkan.
Ziarah kubur itu kemudian diperbolehkan oleh Nabi sebagaimana dalam salah satu haditsnya.
Rasullah SAW bersabda,
"Berziarahlah kamu agar kamu teringat kepada kematian."
(HR. Ahmad dan Muslim).
Jadi, dengan ziarah kubur tersebut kita diharapkan bisa mengambil pelajaran, khususnya agar kita ingat akan mati. Kalau seorang ingat akan mati, otomatis akan menjadi takut akan azab Allah SWT bilamana tidak mempunyai bekal untuk menuju ke sana.
Hikmah Ziarah Kubur.
Ziaah kubur bisa mengingatkan kita bahwa kematian itu pasti akan datang. Kalau sudah ingat nanti bakal mati, kita juga akan mempersiapkan bekal-bekal untuk menghadapinya.
Artinya, kematian akan menjadi warning bagi kita untuk senantiasa ingat bahwa suatu saat kita pasti akan kembali kepada Allah SWT.
Pilgrimage At the Beginning.
Ancient pilgrimages were often practiced by the ignorant, even during that time, the tomb was one of the sources and targets of idol worshipers, so at that time the pilgrimage was forbidden by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) for fear that it might occur.
While the faith and faith that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) instilled in his followers was just beginning, they have not yet tainted flesh in their souls.
When to Grave Pilgrimage Allowed.
The tomb was later allowed by the Prophet as in one of his hadiths.
The Prophet said,
"Visit the land to remember death."
(HR. Ahmad and Muslim).
So, with that grave pilgrimage we are expected to take lessons, especially so that we will remember death. If a person remembers dying, they will automatically fear the punishment of Allah Almighty when they have no means to go there.
The Wisdom of Burial Pilgrimage.
The grave burial can remind us that death will surely come. Keeping in mind that we will die soon, we will also prepare some supplies for it.
That is, death will be a warning to us to always remember that one day we will definitely return to Allah Almighty.
