Dari buku Mengenang Jejak Kyai Ahmad Siroj Sala (1989), diperoleh keterangan ayah Kiai Siradj bernama Kiai Umar atau yang lebih dikenal dengan nama Imam Pura, salah seorang Waliyullah. Makam Kiai Imam Pura berada di Susukan, Kabupaten Semarang. Kiai Imam Pura ini bila ditarik lebih adalah memiliki garis keturunan dengan Sunan Hasan Munadi, salah seorang paman R. Fatah yang ditugaskan mengislamkan daerah lereng Gunung Merbabu sebelah utara, atau sekarang dikenal sebagai Desa Nyatnyono. Selain Kiai Siraj, Kiai Imam Pura ini memiliki beberapa keturunan, di antaranya adalah Kyai Kholil yang bermukim di Kauman, Solo, dan Kyai Djuwaidi yang bertempat tinggal di Tengaran, Kabupaten Semarang. Sosok yang Inklusif Kiai Siradj dilahirkan pada tahun 1878 M. Secara fisik, penampilan Mbah Siradj cukup mudah untuk dikenali, sebab dalam sehari-hari maupun saat bepergian jauh, ia sering berpakaian khas dengan memakai iket (semacam kain batik yang digunakan untuk menutupi kepala), berbaju putih, bersarung ‘wulung’ dan memakai ‘gamparan’ tinggi. Model pakaian ini agak mirip dengan pakaian yang dikenakan para ulama lain di lingkup Keraton Surakarta, semisal guru Mamba’ul Ulum yang memakai kain batik panjang, baju jas dengan leher tinggi (jas tutup) warna putih, dan memakai blangkon. Namun, tidak hanya kekhasan dalam berpakaian semata, Mbah Siradj juga dikenal sebagai seorang ulama yang alim, bijaksana dan kharismatik. Setiap ucapannya, konon memiliki sejumlah sasmita (isyarat). Bahkan di wilayah Solo dan sekitarnya, banyak yang menyebutnya sebagai seorang Waliyullah, dengan ilmu dan beberapa karomah yang dimilikinya. Salah satu cicit Mbah Siradj, Agus Taufik, menjelaskan kakek buyutnya dikenal banyak orang karena sosoknya yang inklusif, dan pendekatannya dalam menyebarkan agama Islam dengan cara humanis. “Mbah Siradj tidak pernah membedakan agama atau suku saat bergaul. Ajaran beliau untuk mempersatukan umat dan pluralisme, mungkin mirip dengan ajaran Gus Dur,” jelasnya. Bahkan, karena sifatnya yang sangat terbuka terhadap segala macam lapisan masyarakat ini, hingga sekarang setiap diperingati haulnya, seorang penjual bakso di Notosuman yang beragama Khatolik dan seorang Tionghoa, berkenan mengirim tiga kambing serta beberapa kuintal beras untuk menyukseskan acara haul tersebut.
