Real bataknese could tell what panggang should taste like, be it Tobanese or Karonese. There is nothing special with the cooking, I was here because most likely lapo around are closed post New Year break. But that’s not entirely why the 1-star. The service was unbelievale. This is a batak food joint, I KNOW what to expect. Not expecting for a fancy schmancy service but at the very least they should (1) get the order correctly, (2) make sure all orders are delivered. We ordered 2 rice, 1 sangsang, 1 panggang, 1 cassava leaves dish. It can’t be easier to get. Rice were served first. And then none. Only 10% of the tables were occupied at the time and it took like over 10 minutes to get the self-righteous frontwoman to β€œrealize” the other dishes weren’t delivered. With no remorse. It became clear that she forgot to enter the order to the kitchen (knowing how SIMPLE the menus in Batak food joint are, i don’t think it’s an error, it’s clearly her attitude). Everything came when the rice are already cold, so we ask to switch to warmer ones. With the typical Bataknese attitude, she grumpily took the order. And on top of it we got charged double for one of the panggang dishes, the kitchen staff claimed that there is an additional order for take-away made under our table number - which we never made. and of course the majesty frontwoman is β€œbusy” speaking to other take-away customer (tried to eavesdrop and apparently she repeatedly confirm the already very clear order). I think she has escalated from being unprofessional to ill-intentional. We got it sorted out with the cashier in the end, with no drama because I don’t need one. Not sure if all customers would react likewise, though. I feel bad for the business owner. Agile and accurate waiters are key in Batak food joint because cooking preferability is relative. Try to understand from the owner’s point of view and how typical Batak business employement style work, perhaps the frontwoman is just another relative from the village desperate for work and they’re just trying to help. And the frontwoman, not used with how capitalism-driven businesses work in Java, still thinking she’s β€œdaughter of the king” so entitled to be treated special. To be honest I maintained my composure while I was in there only to avoid boogers on my plate - because seeing how the frontwoman behave towards her own task, stuff like that are very likely to happen. Food joint owners need to be made aware of the toxin in the business they manage. This review is not written out of spite, the purpose is an invitation for the business owner to manage their human capital better, and for the frontwoman, as an invitation to mature up and be grateful.

Not the cleanest place to eat but quiet decent, offer traditional batak toba food especially pork, either roasted or stir, the food is not bad and the price is fair

Great food! Would give a 5 star for it, but the music is too loud. Also, the owner does not enforce no smoking in a closed, air-conditioned room, so you eat your food with cigarette smoke from other guests' nicotine-clad lungs.
