β β β β β Lapo is where you find non halal food, in this case pork dishes.
Before discussing the food, though it's located on pasar 8 (local market), they do at least prepare hand sanitizer. This one is a small restaurant, i don't expect much either regarding hygiene protocols. Other than that fact, they are relatively clean.
So, in these photos, i ordered the usual rice set, consist of a portion of rice, yellow broth cassava leaf, bakut soup, pork meat of your choice.
Yellow broth cassava leaf, i think it's boiled down with a bit of curryfied broth with coconut milk. It's not that intense , the leaf still has a bit of bitterness and sweetness plus a bit salty broth.
Bakut soup, surprisingly clean, light, a touch of saltines, when i tasted the soup, it's just felt right, like a warm embrace ??. Mostly you will find bakut, basically pork meat that still intact with the bone. Not much meat though. Also, consist of carrot, celery, galangal pieces.
The pork meat choices based on pork belly and shoulder (my guess, bur mostly belly) , there are deep fried, oven baked, pork simmered on sweet soy sauce, saksang (in pork blood sauce), rica rica (basically manadonese spice blend).
This time i choose sweet soy and fried ones.
The difference of oven baked and fried is texture. The baked is a bit harder than the other one. While the fried one is softer, easier to bite. Simply, baked : crunchy ( a bit hard) while fried : crispy . Both is the same taste wise.
The sweet soy, is just sweet and a bit salty, just okay. But the pork belly is very tender, easily melt in your mouth .
I did taste the saksang and rica.
While the rica supposed to be rich of earthy spice and a bit spicy, this one is a bit lacking. It taste okay, just need a bit more intense and a bit more seasoning.
While saksang, cook in pork blood sauce . Not entirely blood, but mainly taste like, well, blood, but not intense at all. Similar to rendang sauce, just not as intense.
I don't recommend the saksang for you all that is not ready. At least for me we all should try once.
There is this green sambal, andaliman sambal. It's a MUST PAIRING with the pork. Just a bit for every bite of pork. It's a bit earthy, bright, spicy enough. Helps you cut through the heavy pork dish.
Pro tip, since the most ordered is either fried and baked, pair it with the saucy one. So the hard one can absorb the liquid, and soften a little. The soup also help a lot actually.
There are other stir fry menu like fried rice, rice noodles, noodles, decided not to try them though.
Parking space is not a problem here.
Resto capacity is around 20 ish, but since they are small resto and kind of traditional, they don't really put spaces for the consumers ( following the protocol). Ordering via ojek online is preferred IMO.
The rice set is IDR 45000 , mid price range.
That's it, 7/10. I recommend to order online and eat safely in your home ??
