Di beberapa Kodam, Kodim beroperasi di wilayah Daerah Tingkat II, baik kota maupun kabupaten. Kodim dipimpin oleh seorang Komandan yang biasa disebut Dandim (Komandan Distrik Militer) yang berpangkat Letnan Kolonel (Letkol) dan Mayor (Senior). Tetapi untuk kodim yang berdiri sendiri (kodim tanpa korem) dipimpin dandim berpangkat Kolonel.

In some Kodam, Kodim operates in the region of the Level II, both cities and districts. Kodim led by a commander commonly called Dandim (Military District) who held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (Col) and Mayor (Senior). But for stand-alone Kodim (District Military Command, without any military) led Dandim rank of Colonel.
