β β β β β scrumptous food, attentive host and lovely ambience. TBH my best meal in Jogya. it felt like a homely dinner at a boutique restaurant with mum's best homemade dishes. the 3 types of chicken recommended by the host were such a delectable and tantalizing treat. only problem is with finding it: its now hidden (moved from old place) to an alley next to the "Dalai Lama warung kopi & dormitory room" in the chef's own humble abode complete with classy yet cosy furnishing. refer to the attached pictures for directions.

β β β β β I came here because of a review I read on a Culinary Facebook Group Page. First thought on my way to the restaurant, this place might be nice for international tourists, because my Grab driver told me that this restaurant is located in Kampung Turis area (area dedicated for international tourists). But, I was completely wrong!! The place is so humble and homey. The menu is limited, but they are all so nice!! Tbh, the food is what most Indonesians eat at home, but no regret Iβd come back here again. My fave is Ayam Kesuma (which is not in the picture). And my toddler boyβs fave is Vegetarian Fried Rice, which is full of veggies and he didnβt care! Tips: reservation is a must, because the seats are super limited!

β β β β β The best surprise of our trip! Read a lot of good reviews, so decided to try it our ourselves. The restaurant is a bit hidden in an alley, but it's worth it! Service was extremely friendly! Run by a local family with the mother in the kitchen and her children in the front. Definitely try the lumpias, beef rendang and chicken with chili and pineapple, so good!! Only minus point is that they don't serve alcohol, but there are enough bars nearby for a drink before or after.

β β β β β Kesuma is a private kitchen located in a narrow alley that cars won't be able to drive in. So you will need to drop off at the entrance of the alley and walk in.
We visited on an evening when it was raining heavily and relentlessly. The owner actually had no intention of opening for business that day as her kitchen was partially flooded. However, upon hearing that it was our last evening in Jogja, decided to cook for us. We ordered a few signature dishes on the menu and they were all tasty. Shortly after we finished our meal, there was a blackout due to the torrential rain.
On hindsight, we should have called earlier to check instead of walking in unannounced. A big thank you to the owner for deciding to cook for us despite having to deal with a flooded kitchen.
As it's a private kitchen, there's limited seats so make a reservation ahead before visiting.

β β β β β Amazingly prepared homemade Indonesian cuisine in a nicely adorned house. Could certainly do with a fan or two though - even at night the place is a little warm and stuffy.
The place is in the middle of a dingy back alley, but there's a banner at the main road, and the locals will happily point you in the right direction.
Food is outstandingly scrumptious - the meats are cooked to succulent perfection and there's plenty of tasty vegetables. Be warned: the chilli sauce is maximum burn.
Service is fast but unfortunately they were out of a lot of items, like literally all the fish, so that was a shame. Pricing is a tad high, but this is presumably fine dining in Jogja, so understandable. Mains are 89k Rp and sets are 140k.

β β β β β The very definition of home cooked food hidden in the alley. I was their first customer of the night and Lily the chef and owner was very welcoming. According to her she normally served reservations since it's a small home based restaurant with minimal seating and she was the only cooked. I loved her food and the ambience of the place. The music that she had on was very relaxing making me not want to leave but I have a massage appointment. She deserved more customers but she say she can't handle too many!
