First time try to eat in this restaurant. Actually from the front it didn't show like restaurant however homey place to eat. When entering it, you can pick up your own rice. There are white rice and red rice. Then you can choose which type of 'manyung' (name of fish like dory or lele) head you want (big IDR200k, jumbo IDR 260k, jumbo X IDR300k, jumbo XX IDR400k) with spicy or not spicy sauce. The different is how many chillis put on it but the taste is so yummy. Then there are also meat of manyung IDR40k, manta meat IDR40k, eel IDR40k, squid, spicy prawn, jengkol, spicy pete, garang asam, fried fish, fried prawn, fried chicken, grilled chicken, papaya flower, papaya leaves, lots of vegetables, kikil, fried tofu, mendoan, bakwan jagung (corn pancake), sayur asem, sayur lodeh, sayur krecek, and 4 types of chillis (sambal bawang / onion sauce, sambal terasi, sambal bajak, sambal matah). For the food price is ok with good quality of food also. There are also juices, soft drinks and ice cream. If you like spicy food, this restaurant is recommended. Also they support free lunch in every Friday.

Oh i love eat here, like a lot of food is taste. Most of all are spicy food and the spice quite strong. My favorite is ikan pe and jengkol balado, but hadnt chance to try ikan manyung as the icon of this resto. Definitely will back to try it. The price is worth as the price. The seat area is comfortable and also suits for group. Bit harf to find parking spot but no worries they has vallet parking cost only 10k.

I just came across recently that Bu Fat has a stall in Jakarta. The place is good, with good selection of dishes. But certainly the main menu is the fish head. There's a choice for the not spicy curry but I ordered the spicy one with he fish head. Recommended but it's not cheap.

I tried Kepala Manyung (medium size, 170K) it was good. But that is the only menu that taste great, the other addition is not so great. Even their veggie does not taste fresh and blanc, black squid isn't fresh and sour. Still, 4 star from me because the fish head menu is consider oke.

Kepala Manyung Bu Fat started in 1969 in Semarang, Central Java. The "Kepala Manyung" was from her restaurant's signature dish, which we'll be discussing later on. The last two words came from the founder's nickname, Bu Fatimah. Fatimah passed away in 1999, leaving behind a priceless legacy: the family recipes. Her children expanded the business by making two branches in Krobokan and Banyumanik; both regions are in Semarang. Twenty years later, Bu Fat's granddaughter expanded the business farther to Jakarta. From the outside, the bright restaurant looks compact and slightly small. The vast parking lot creates an optical illusion that it uses a lot of plot. The building consists of three parts: the outdoor area where I am currently sitting, the indoor space, and a VIP room on the back. Facilities like a praying room and a toilet are also comfortably spacious and clean. On some walls display wood panels and windows as decoration. Some indoor plants also bring a lot of natural ambiance to the restaurant. Surrounding inside are wooden tables and chairs that I’d someday like to have on my house terrace. Kepala Manyung Bu Fat exhibits a gardenlike concept contrary to the typical ocean-themed seafood restaurants out there. I like the dishes, almost dishes I like, it's delicious and on point!

They smoked the fish with an excellent combination of spiced coconut milk. Different way of cooking from PANTURA's area, but it's lovely. Other buffet menu are also wonderful... Papaya leaf and flower, jengkol, and others... The kikil isn't as good as it looks. Tried 3 differences of sambal... They worked wonders ???

I'm sure a lot of people love this signature Semarang cuisine, but the Manyung fish heads are way too fishy & slimy for me. Even more so than kepala kakap.
