★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice foods ala Solo. You can get racikan selat, garang asem, tahu kupat, nasi liwet, etc... There's also non-halal sosis which is very delicious.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kafe Star is a well known traditional Indonesian restaurant for an authentic Solo dishes. Located on a strategic street at Jalan Panjang, Kafe Star has been one of the favorite places in Jakarta for their authentic traditional dishes. Kafe Star only got few parking spots (2 until 3 cars only), which makes their place pretty hard to reach. They got favorite menus such as Sosis Solo (Solo's Traditional Sausage), Racik Selat, Bistik Lidah Sapi, Nasi Langgi, Sosis Kecap, and a lot more delicious traditional dishes.

More new restaurants need to be more like this except that they aim to provide experiences for the local community instead of just more money as their object.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Their family started this restaurant since 1955 as a canteen at Star movie theater Jalan Widuran Solo, became famous of selling Nasi Timlo, Sosis Solo and Racikan Selat - local beef steak with mustard. Until today Kafe Star still serve their legendary cuisine.
Also selling many traditional snack from Central Java area, such as gendar udang, karak ndeso, kecap Mirama, etc.
