★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gudeg is a Yogyakarta icon, it is a Javanese traditional food that originally comes from this province. The main ingredient of this food is young jackfruit and chilli sauce with fried beef skin. Gudeg Yu Djum is one of the famous gudeg shops in Yogyakarta. The taste is a little bit sweet, creamy and savoury.
And if you are a Moslem, it is considered Halal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The location of this gudeg Yu Djum is in the side of Jogya-Solo mainroad , east of Eastern Ringroad intersection , and close to Adisucipto airport . This location has an advantage for travellers that leave Jogya leading eastwards , so it is unnecessary to go to town to get gudeg meal .
Gudeg is a meal speciality that originating from Jogya , not from the other region of Java . The main ingredient is nangka-fruit (plus various spices) that is cooked in special method using conventional furnace with small flame , so it takes many hours , ten hours or maybe more . There are 3 types of gudeg : watery (e.g. gudeg yu Siyem) , mild (e.g. gudeg yu Djum) and dry (e.g. gudeg bu Ahmad) . I prefer the last two , mild and dry . Gudeg is always provided with : chicken-opor (thick sauce) , sambel goreng krecek and telur-pindang , which all are delicious !
I visited this restaurant for dinner on my way back to Solo , its gudeg was OK , delicious , but its sambel goreng krecek was less spicy . The lighting of this restaurant wasn't sufficient , need improvement .
Overall it's OK , so don't hesitate to visit !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gudeg Yu Djum tastes so good as always. The service is very good, they are so friendly and helpful. However, sometimes you have to wait to get a table here, because this place is usually full of people.
For you who want to bring this gudeg to your flight they provide a box as well. So it will be easier for you to carry and it will keep the gudeg fine. And if you choose dine in, sometimes they have a local musician who will sing some local songs when you are there.
