Badan ini mempunyai tugas pokok membantu Gubernur/Bupati/Wali kota dalam penyelenggaraan Pemerintahan Daerah dibidang penelitian dan perencanaan pembangunan daerah.
Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah di bentuk berdasarkan pertimbangan :
a. Bahwa dalam rangka usaha peningkatan keserasian pembangunan di daerah diperlukan adanya peningkatan keselarasan antara pembangunan sektoral dan pembangunan daerah.
b. Bahwa dalam rangka usaha menjamin laju perkembangan, keseimbangan dan kesinambungan pembangunan didaerah, diperlukan perencanaan yang lebih menyeluruh, terarah dan terpadu
 The Regional Development Planning Agency, abbreviated as Bappeda, is a regional technical institution in the field of regional development research and planning led by a head of an agency who is under and responsible to the Governor / Regent / Mayor through the Regional Secretary. This agency has the main task of assisting the Governor/Regent/Mayor in the administration of Regional Government in the field of research and regional development planning.
The Regional Development Planning Agency is formed based on the following considerations:
a. Whereas in the context of efforts to increase the harmony of development in the regions, it is necessary to increase the harmony between sectoral development and regional development.
b. That in the framework of ensuring the rate of development, balance and continuity of development in the regions, a more comprehensive, directed and integrated planning is required.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gedung kantor pemerintah yg asri dan sejuk, beda d ngan kantor pemerintah di kabupaten lain di DIY, bahkan Bappeda DIY yg di Kepatihan saja tidak se asri ini. Salut dengan pimpinan disini.

Untuk ruangannya bersih dan adem, wangi. Meja bersih dan dimasa pandemi seperti ini kursinya sudah di beri jarak, jadi aman dan nyaman.
