Bangunan ini merupakan salah satu cagar budaya sehingga telah dilakukan berbagai upaya untuk melestarikan keberadaanya.
Selain megah dan mewah, disekelilingnya banyak tumbuh tumbuhan keras, dengan area parkir yang dapat menampung banyak kendaraan sehingga sering digunakan untuk berbagai acara rapat dan kedinasan.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dulu sempat menjadi Kantor Bupati Gunungkidul.. dan sekarang Bangsal Sewokoprojo rutin menjadi Acara-acara Seremonial Dinas, Organisasi dan Lembaga2 di Kabupaten Gunungkidul.
Di Kompleks Bangsal Sewokoprojo ini juga terdapat beberapa Kantor Dinas dan Instansi seperti Kantor Polisi Pamong Praja, BPBD, Radio Hargo Sosro dan lainnya

"Cat bangunan akan dikembalikan ke asli yakni warna kuning, sedangkan bangunan tambahan di depan joglo akan dibongar. Paku akan dicopoti karena awalnya tidak menggunakan paku,"
Revitalisasi akan dilakukan hingga ke seluruh komplek Bangsal Sewokoprojo. Namun, untuk revitasilasi komplek tidak dikerjakan 2019 melainkan 2020 usai perkantoran yang berada di Komplek Sewokoprojo mendapatkan kantor baru...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Berkunjung ke Bangsal Sewokoprojo pada acara pengajian Dharma Wanita Persatuan DIY. Bangunan ini merupakan salah satu ikon Gunungkidul. Di kompleks ini terdapat kantor Badan Penanggulangan Bencana daerah dan Polisi Pamong Praja di sisi kanan dan kiri bangsal.
Bangsal ini luas, bisa menampung banyak tamu, memiliki area parkir yang dapat menampung banyak kendaraan, halaman yang sejuk dan luas sehingga sering digunakan untuk berbagai acara kedinasan/lembaga di Gunungkidul. Namun demikian menurut mitos setempat, tempat ini pamali untuk acara pernikahan.
