My number 1 most favorite noodle in Jakarta... u can argue about this.. but it is true... the noodle taste is so awesome and the thickness is perfect. The soup.... yummy....... and LIANG TEH would be the perfect drink for the noodle. Hope thay have more branches in other cities as well. I definetly come here everytime i am in Jakarta

Today lunch at Tanjung Duren area at Jakarta Barat. My friend took me to this famous noodles house popular among the Jakartans. Bakmi Ayam Alok has been around since 1978. What make his bakmi different is that he serve the chicken meat either from drumsticks or breast meat together with a bowl of soup. You can then add chillies depending on your own preference. I would say the soup were rich in chicken flavour which I would give 7/10 for the soup. As for the noodle, it was home made and you can feel the tenderness of the noodle when you munch it in your mouth. Together with the ingredients that makes the thick gravy, I would give the bakmi at 9/10. While enjoying my first mouthful of bakmi Alok, there were dinner voice that says go for second bowl. Just imagine how tasty this bakmi?. They even get 5 star rating from Tirta Lie, sort of rating similar to Michelin but this rating were created by a person named Tirta Lie. I was told he was an avid bakmi junkie that when around Jakarta eating various bakmi and he started to give rating at Social Media to each bakmi stalls. And since his rating received positive comments and agreement from netizen, he started Tirta Lie Award ranging from 1 star 5 star. I would suggest that you should visit this shop for your own tasting. It is halal outlet.

The noodle is a bit different, it's more thick and we called like rubber, they used Ayam Kampung and the taste is quiet good. In front of the noodle shop, have street vendor who sale otak-otak/fish cake, the taste just so so but still oke.

Hands down the best Halal noodle with ayam kampung in town! I believe it is in par with Bakmi Iyan 88 at Gading Serpong, Tangerang (their noodle is thicker in diameter). But I guess in general people will prefer a skinnier noodle with chewy texture like Alok's. I was first introduced to Alok by a good high school friend of mine, who is also a foodie that hunts delicious food for pleasure ? And later I found out that Alok was so legendary that my in laws were regulars at Alok when Alok himself was serving the noodles at a very humble street side 'gerobak' within Grogol area. They are quite pricey, but then considering the reputation and consistency throughout the years, I guess it is moderately priced. A few things that caught my attention; The downside with Alok's noodle is their branches at food courts (for example Living World Alam Sutera) is not as good as their other branches. And sometimes when they get overly crowded, they lose the consistency with the taste. The good points about Alok: The noodle has the best texture and chewiness and they are never shy with seasonings. They are generous with their free range chicken (ayam kampung) toppings and you can easily tell that the chicken is fresh and seasoned with salt. The chicken stock broth is genuinely tasty, the perfect cure when you catch a cold ? Last but not least is their spring onion, I believe they are baby spring onions giving it an additional sweetness to the noodles and the chicken broth. One more thing, their hot and tangy sambal is also something to highlight, compliments the noodles and the chicken, making it the perfect dish for breakfast or lunch ?
